Trip highlights:
Expedition to climb the Lord of the Andes, the highest mountain outside
the Himalayas, Aconcagua (6964m). Located in Argentina almost on
the border with Chile.
With previous acclimatization program climbing up, Cordon del Plata range, San
Bernardo Peak (2800m), Pico Bernardo (3800m), Pico Vallecitos (5600m), Cerro
del Plomo (5950m).

Itinerary
Day 1.- Transfer in Mendoza Hotel + ab
Day 2.- Visit the city of Mendoza, arrange
of Aconcagua National Park climbing permits + ab
Day 3.-Transfer from Mendoza city to Potrerillos
Village at Cordón del Plata range, overnight in mountain
hut at San Bernardo peak at 2800m + Ab, Lunch
Day 4.- Acclimatization on Pico Bernardo at
3800 m , full day 9 hrs walk, steep gravel uphill(

Day 5.- Resting day (full board )
Day 6.- Climb to El Salto campsite at 4200,
walk time 7 hrs , overnight in camps ( full board )
Day 7.- Climb to camp La Hondonada at 4600m,
walking time 3 hrs , overnight in camp ( full board )
Day 8.- Resting day ( full board )
Day 9.-Climb to Pico Vallecitos at 5600m , climbing
time 7 hrs , overnight in camp ( full Board )
Day 10.-Resting day (full board)
Day 11.- Climb to Cerro del Plomo at 5950m climbing
time 8hrs , overnight in camp( full board)
Day 12.- Descent to Bernardo hut, full board
Day 13- Transfer to Aconcagua National Park,
entrance and control at Horcones, walk to Confluencia at 3300m,
walk time 4 hrs, full board.
Day 14.- From Confluencia we head towards Playa
Ancha valley and walk through it for about 8km approaching Plaza
de Mulas at 4265m , stage time 6hr , overnight in camp
full board.
Day 15.- Resting day
Day 16.- From Plaza de Mulas we go on a steep
marked trail heading towards Plaza Canada and from there we reach
Nido de Condores at 5320m, we deposit our equipment to came back
down again to Plaza de Mulas, full board
Day 17.- Resting day
Day 18.- From Plaza de Mulas to Nido de Condores
. overnight in camp, full board
Day 19.- From Plaza de Mulas we start a long
journey towards Berlin campsite walking along the Nor occidental
flank of Aconcagua. overnight in camp at 5780m. Depending on
phisical conditions we might head for the Aconcagua summit, 6962m.
Descent to Nido de Condores. Full board.
Day 20 .- Reserved day, full
board
Day 21 .- Nido de condores to Plaza de mulas
camp, full board.
Day 22 .- Plaza de mulas – Confluencia
- Penitentes to Mendoza city, Hotel (fullboard)
Day 23.- Free day in Mendoza + ab
Day 24.- Transfer out or Iguazu falls extension. |
